On April 15, 2019, the Secretariat of the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) carried out its fifth internal training entitled "Learning from Success - Experience Sharing and Improvement of Professional Committee Work".
This time, Mr. Hu Chenggong, an expert from the Department of Critical Care Medicine of West China Hospital, and Secretary of the Critical Care Medicine Professional Committee of the SCIMEA, was invited to share his experience in and perception of the work of the Professional Committee. He mentioned that, a secretary of the Committee is required not only to maintain a correct political awareness, follow the development direction of the "Belt and Road" initiative of the country, but also to continuously promote the exchanges among various disciplines, break through disciplinary limitations, and seek more learning opportunities for the members of the Committee; he/she should not only invite foreign experts to "come in" to teach our young talents on cutting-edge foreign technologies, but also help outstanding young talents to "go out" to learn more.
With regard to knowledge sharing, Mr. Hu said that, in view of the differences in the level of healthcare knowledge existed among the people of different places in Sichuan Province, in addition to the training and further education on doctors, popularizing related knowledge among the people is also one of the duties of the Professional Committee; it is as well an orientation for the Committee to accurately and explicitly convey correct medical care knowledge to the people and gear up the construction of medical culture.
In terms of conference support, Mr. Hu advised the trainees to make a plan in advance for any job to do, to learn and consult as much as possible in case of any doubts; and to constantly try, feed back, modify, and tune up the plan until a good result is achieved; purely doing well as a doctor is definitely not enough to be a good secretary of a professional committee.
Next, the participants exchanged and discussed the problems encountered in the daily work of various professional committees and corresponding solutions.
Secretary General Zhang Mengfan made concluding remarks at the end of this training session, saying that this internal training is really meaningful; as the secretary of the Professional Committee, Mr. Hu Chenggong has set a very good example; he excels at various aspects, and tries to do all the best in every job. Secretary General Zhang summed up her feelings about this training with four words: excited, moved, touched, and action. She called on the secretaries of the professional committees of the Association, based on this training, to give full play to the spirit of "mutual learning", "co-construction" and "sharing", and do their work in respective committees to the extreme.
