SCIMEA Wins the Award of “The Most Influential Academic Activity of the Year in Sichuan and Chongqing”

On December 10, the first Sichuan and Chongqing Science and Technology Academic Conference and Sichuan Science and Technology Academic Conference kicked off in Chengdu. Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) won the award of “The Most Influential Academic Activity of the Year in Sichuan and Chongqing” (a total of 10 winners in Sichuan Province), and the paper jointly recommended by SCIMEA and West China Hospital, Sichuan University was awarded the “Grand Prize of Outstanding Papers of the first Sichuan and Chongqing Science and Technology Academic Conference” (a total of 2 winners in Sichuan Province).

The conference was jointly organized by Sichuan Association for Science and Technology and Chongqing Association for Science and Technology. Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group, Executive Vice President and First Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Acting Governor, and Xiong Xue, Vice Mayor of Chongqing attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Deng Xiaogang, Deputy Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony. The conference was presided over by Li Yanrong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of Sichuan Association for Science and Technology and President of Sichuan University. The conference, with the scientific and technical workers in Sichuan and Chongqing as the mainstay, aims to carry out extensive academic research in the international frontiers of science and technology and in the fields of the main battlefield of economy, major national needs and people's life and health, launch an array of excellent academic achievements, organize a number of the most influential academic activities and first-class societies, and strive to become the most influential scientific event in the Sichuan and Chongqing and an influential scientific event in China, as well as an innovative platform for academic achievements, so as to drive the improvement of the academic level of Sichuan’s and Chongqing’s societies.


SCIMEA won “The Most Influential Academic Activity of the Year in Sichuan and Chongqing” with its “2019 China-Japan Summit Forum on Advanced Medical Care and New Drug R&D Summit Forum & Achievements Transformation Conference”. The forum was jointly organized by SCIMEA and the Japan Translational Research Center for Medical Innovation (TRI), with the participation of Chinese and Japanese leaders and top scientists, including He Wei, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Jiao Hong, Director of National Medical Products Administration, Yin Li, Governor of Sichuan Province, Daisaku Sato, Director of Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency, Tasuku Honjo, a Nobel Laureate from Japan, Koichi Tanaka, a member of Japan Academy, and Wei Yuquan, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In addition, more than 1,000 frontline scholars, leading enterprises, industry gurus and investors from home and abroad attended the forum, including more than 300 domestic and foreign leading pharmaceutical companies and research institutes, nearly 100 investment institutions, and almost 300 experts and scholars in the field of biomedicine. The forum launched the "China-Japan Biomedical Achievement Transformation Express", which showcased nearly 1,000 advanced medical projects from China, Japan and the rest of the world, and led to the deals of 9 projects.

The paper titled "A vaccine targeting the RBD of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 induces protective immunity", which was jointly recommended by SCIMEA and West China Hospital and published in Nature (online), received the “Grand Prize of Outstanding Papers of the first Sichuan and Chongqing Science and Technology Academic Conference” and was also the first paper on the CPVID-19 vaccine published by Nature.
