In order to effectively prevent the occurrence of accidental injuries among children and adolescents aged 0-18, improve the first aid skills of children, adolescents and parents, and minimize accidental injuries, Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA), together with the Department of Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine of West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University, conducted a science lecture on "Knowledge of First Aid for Children" in the Hongmen Street Community, Wuhou District, Chengdu on August 18. The lecture was held in a diversified form of "offline lecture + online live broadcast + case sharing + skills practice", and was given by Lu Guoyan, the medical team leader of the Department of Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine of West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University.Despite the 37℃ degrees Celsius high outdoor temperature in the afternoon of the activity, more than 30 children and their parents came to the scene, and a total of 1300 viewers watched the lecture live online.

The scene of the activity was very warmly decorated, making everyone feel at home, and the lecture was also very exciting. In the lecture titled “Prevention and Treatment of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction in Children”, Lu Guoyan, a physician, focusing on five themes of "understanding foreign body airway obstruction, airway structure and blockage diagram, what are foreign bodies, obstruction identification and first aid, and how to prevent", vividly introduced the symptoms and hazards of foreign body inhalation obstruction with clinical cases, appealed to parents not to give their children food that could easily cause obstruction, and demonstrated "back percussion”, “Heimlich maneuver" and other first aid methods, which were recognized as practical by the parents on the scene. Afterwards, another physician Yin Zhongwei and nurse Dai Tao led the audience to learn the knowledge of "CPR for children". They told the parents not to panic in case of emergency, taught everyone how to quickly and correctly implement CPR, and invited parents and children to do CPR on stage with the teaching models. Through the interaction on the stage, parents and children mastered the sequence and techniques of CPR more proficiently.The lecture was conducted in a lightened atmosphere, and everyone actively participated in the interaction and answered the physicians' questions enthusiastically.

”If the young people are strong, China will be strong.”In the next three months, the series of public welfare activities of“SCIMEA 2022 Little Buttons Children's Popular Science”—A Project of Sichuan’s First Venture Philanthropy Contest" will continue to be piloted in Hongmen Street community. Through close cooperation with the community, these activities will make good use of the rich medical resources of SCIMEA to bring professional children's medical science to the community, schools and childcare institutions, and work together to create a model community for children's health education.
