For an academic magazine, it is even worse than the impact factor plummeting that was kicked out by the SCI inclusion system. Every year, Corey Wei'an will announce changes in magazines' inclusion.
Just yesterday, Corey Wei'an announced the past 12 months‘ changes of the magazines in the inclusion system (http://mjl.clarivate.com/cgi-bin/jrnlst/jlcovchanges.cgi? PC=D）。 The changes mainly include the magazine's name changes, newly added, dropped, or previously removed but Reactivated. And other states such as ceased, absorbed, etc are listed.
273 magazines' names are listed, but in fact the number is less than 273. Some of the magazines' names have been changed thus appeared twice in the list. For example, the magazine named "Cancer Communications" sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University, formerly known as "Chinese Journal of Cancer", both names are among the list. Cancer Communications is shown as Changed from Chinese Journal of Cancer and Newly Added, but click on Chinese Journal of Cancer showing Changed to Cancer Communications. Renaming has no effect on the magazines and the authors, so it is useless to further discuss.
The big concern is which magazines were included and were removed. Oncotarget, which was once honored as one of the four major journals, was re-included this time, and researchers who have published articles on it should be pleasant. Scores of Oncotarget were good after publishing impact factors, and the volume of the collection continued to increase. It was very popular and was rated as the four major journals together with PLos One, Scientific Reports and Medicine. After Oncotarget was eliminated, I always felt the vacancy. Three missing one! It has finally been re-included.
At the homepage of Oncotarget's website, there is news about its re-inclusion by Pubmed. There is no information about being included in SCI, let's wait for the official information of Oncotarget. Before the official list of impact factors or before the official announcement of Oncotarget, it is recommended that contact the magazine to confirm before submit the manuscript.
In addition, Biomedical Research-INDIA, which is popular among Chinese researchers, has also returned into the SCI system.
Unfortunately, Cellular Physiology and Biochemistry (CPB) was removed. This 5.5 credit magazine is also very popular among Chinese researchers, and there is one place fewer to contribute. The comrades who are still reviewing or preparing to contribute need to stop.
Newly listed magazines are Science Advances, Science Immunology, and Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, for it shows changes of information in the latest 12 months.
Science Immunology will introduce new impact factors this year. Based on the prediction results, Science Immunology's impact factors is about 10 points this year. Generally the impact factors of the first year magazines are low. As a journal of Science and publishing the hot field of immunology, Science Immunology should have a powerful momentum in the future, and the journal of immunology will present a situation of hegemony.
Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy is a magazine sponsored by Sichuan University. It has been publishing high-level articles since its inception and has just been included this year,let's expect its first impact factor.
In the list, Cell Cycle shows as "Newly Added CELL CYCLE". It's not very clear that Cell Cycle has been above 5 points. Although the score fell below 5 points last year, it has been included in SCI.
