At present, the discipline construction of urological surgery in China has shown a good trend of diverse development, and the clinical diagnosis and treatment technology has been progressing. In order to further promote the development and enhancement of the professional field of urological surgery in Sichuan province, the inaugural meeting of the Special Committee on Urological Surgery of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) was successfully held in Leshan on September 3, 2021. The inaugural meeting of the Special Committee on Urological Surgery was chaired by Prof. Wei Wuran from the Department of Urological Surgery, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and it started with a report on the preparatory work of the Committee by Prof. Li Xiang, one of the initiators of the Special Committee on Urological Surgery of SCIMEA. According to Prof. Li Xiang, SCIMEA is a new type of platform-oriented industry organization for international exchange and transformation of achievements which differs from traditional medical industry association. After a year of careful preparation and active recommendation from hospitals at all levels, the Committee has attracted many doctors' active involvement under the guidance of Director Wei Qiang and Director Qiu Mingxing. He believed that, in the future, with concerted efforts, all members will not only get abundant academic exchange opportunities through the Committee, but also gain some benefit for their career development.

Tong Yubo, Director of Academic Conference Affairs Department of SCIMEA, organized the election of the Committee and read out the results. All participants elected the chairman, vice chairmen, standing committee members and other leaders at all levels of the Committee according to the election provisions in the Articles of Association of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association. As a result, the Special Committee on Urological Surgery of SCIMEA is composed of nearly 100 experts in this field in Sichuan. Among them, Prof. Wei Qiang from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, was elected as the honorary chairman, Director Qiu Mingxing of Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences · Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital as the adviser, Prof. Li Xiang from West China Hospital of Sichuan University as the chairman, 6 experts including Liao Yong, Gong Zhiyong, Zhao Youguang, Wei Wuran, Jiang Rui and Yang Jin as deputy chairmen, another 20 experts including Huang Lugang, Jin Tao, Zhuo Hui, Nie Ming, Huang Chaoyou, Liao Hong and Chang Degui, as members of the standing committee of the Committee, another 88 experts including Yang Hua, Li Gang, Zhang Zongping, You Pinghong, Ma Yongjie, Zhu Shuxia and Liu Liquan, as members of the Committee, and Tang Yin and Cao Dehong as the secretaries of the Committee.

Prof. Wei Qiang, Honorary Chairman of the Special Committee on Urological Surgery of SCIMEA, expressed his heartfelt congratulations on the establishment of the Committee and affirmed the idea of differentiated development of the Committee in the future, hoping that the Committee can, based on both international focus and clinical research, grow into another key force of urological surgery in Sichuan province in the future.

Director Qiu Mingxing, Adviser of the Special Committee on Urological Surgery, hoped that all members of the Committee could focus on communication, actively provide suggestions in the future, and pool the efforts together to promote the urological treatment in Sichuan province and even in the western China.

Subsequently, Prof. Li Xiang, the newly elected chairman of the Specialized Committee on Urological Surgery, spoke on behalf of all members of the Committee. He once again thanked everyone for supporting the establishment of the Committee and hoped that all the experts would make good use of the cooperation platform of the Committee, pool their strengths, pay attention to the transformation of results and the training of young doctors, always demand themselves with high standards and actively participate in the work of the Committee, with a aim of improving the diagnosis and treatment in this field in Sichuan province.

Finally, Secretary General Zhang Mengfan gave a brief introduction to all members about the SCIMEA, explaining that the SCIMEA, as a new platform-oriented industry organization, will fully empower all members in international exchange, journal publication, project declaration, results transformation and other dimensions. She especially mentioned that the SCIMEA and West China Hospital had jointly established the West China Medical Culture Industry Company, which will fully promote the development of medical health industry in the coming years. She also believed that relying on the platforms of SCIMEA, the Committee will definitely make a big difference, and under the leadership of Director Wei Qiang, Director Qiu Mingxing and Prof. Li Xiang, the Committee will be able to promote the development of urological surgery and blaze a new trail of differentiated development.
